Team SoloMid: The End or Beginning

The End or Beginning for Team SoloMid

Team SoloMid have been struggling ever since their huge upset performance at the Mid-Season Invitational’s.  After coming back to play in the NA LCS, it is obvious that not all problems have been addressed. Team SoloMid fans are questioning their confidence in the team making World’s after suffering losses to Team Dignitas and Cloud 9 by throwing a lead, and failing to close out countless games because of crucial fundamental mistakes.

But not all hope is gone; they are still sitting tied in second place with Team Dignitas only one game behind first place Counter Logic Gaming. Team coach Choi ‘Locodoco’ Yoon-sub has been working hard with team analysts to fix their problems and re-establish themselves as the most dominant team in North America and contenders of the West.

Recently, there have been some developments in their play style after getting back into the Summer Split. Top-laner Marcus ‘Dyrus’ Hill is no longer ignored and left to die from various ganks since Team SoloMid has adjusted their strategy to include lane pressure from their Jungler Lucas ‘Santorin’ Larsen. This was not their only problem to fix; they still have questionable mid-game calls and rotations and still have problems closing games out.

Team SoloMid’s Marksman Jason ‘Wildturtle’ Tran has had questionable performances following his poor play at Mid-Season Invitational’s. Wildturtle has had a past of getting caught out and questionable flashes and dashes forward into the enemy team. Unless it is for a beneficial trade, often it is a big mistake and hurts the team often preventing them from closing out the game or from coming back. In the 2015 Spring Split, Wildturtle was arguable carrying Team SoloMid alongside mid-laner Soren ‘Bjergsen’ Bjerg, but sadly his outstanding performance is no longer translating to current play.

Due to Wildturtle’s inconsistency and poor performance, team owner Andy ‘Reginald’ Dinh has decided to offer Yuri ‘KEITHMCBRIEF’ Jew a chance to try out for the team’s starting Marksman position and play in some scrims. What Reginald is hoping to accomplish is to motivate and force Wildturtle to practice and perform better with his job on the line. Keith is known for his short shot at fame while replacing Team Liquid’s Marksman Chae ‘Piglet’ Gwang-jin during the 2015 Spring Split. Keith played outstanding and helped the team with an 8-1 record. During this time, Piglet practiced and adjusted accordingly to reclaim his spot. Hopefully this is the outcome for Wildturtle, an iconic Team SoloMid player, as it would be sad to see him let go.

So now the fans have to wait and see. It will be hard to tell how well one is performing compared to the other since it is based on private scrimmages; only time will tell. And if Keith is given an opportunity to play a LCS game maybe history will repeat itself with the Chaox/Wildturtle situation and Keith will get a penta kill leading the team to victory replacing Wildturtle later.

With the ultimate goal of winning World’s in mind, this is the first of many steps Team SoloMid have to make. But before focusing on World’s, they must focus on winning NA LCS convincingly.
